Style Swoon! Spotted Shopping – Zophie and Emmy

So my Summer blogging didn’t happen as frequently as I had hoped, and it seems we are already in Autumn. Boohoo!

I did, however, take some snaps of some very stylish individuals to share with you lovely lot!

First up is the wonderful Zophie!

Image

Such a perfectly put together outfit!

Zophie came into Pop in the Summer and I instantly fell in love with her kawaii Japanese inspired style. I asked her to pose for me and soon discovered she has an equally adorable personality to boot!

Some key pieces from Zophie’s outfit that I would like to pick up on are her handbag and her shoes!

I am a huge fan of a see-through bag, I find there’s something that takes me back to the 90’s with clear coloured plastic that get’s me all nostalgic. I looked on Etsy and found a couple of examples, sport one of these and be in plastic paradise! (click pictures for more details!!)

Image Image

Zophie’s shoes are Adidas x Jeremy Scott… I don’t know much about trainers, and I won’t pretend to know, but I do know I love every single one of the designs by Jeremy Scott for Adidas. They’re a tad on the pricey side for my budget, but one day I would love to own a pair.. For now though, here are some sneakers that give off that same kawaii vibe..

ImageImageImageImage

All these sneakers are from Schuh, and are just as bold a statement as those amazing Adidas beauties!

I loved Zophie’s style so much I have recently asked her to answer some interview questions and send us some style snaps.. Here’s hoping she says yes!

Next up is the gorgeous Emmy…

ImageImage

Such a beauty!

Emmy has been shopping in Pop for a while now, and we always have a lovely little chat every time she visits. She works for Topshop, specialising in denim, and is incredibly good fun! Just check out her 90’s inspired unicorn outfit here!

My favourite item is of course, that amazing jumper, which Emmy told me she found in a charity shop! I don’t know where these magical awesome charity shops are, but I am yet to find something THAT cool!

To continue the shoe theme, I took a close up of Emmy’s gorgeous black and white creepers, which finish off her outfit perfectly and look simple and stylish with micro fishnets. Here are some similar picks..

Both styles available from T.U.K

Once again, don’t forget.. if you have any suggestions or requests for me please don’t hesitate to email me: katykamikaze@gmail.com and I will address your questions/ suggestions/ abuse on the blog!

Ben is a regular at Pop Boutique (the vintage store I manage), he puts up posters and always sticks around for a chat and entertains us all!

He’s a comedian and runs ‘Shits ‘n’ Giggles’ comedy club every first Wednesday of the month at Hirst’s Yard in Leeds. We’re all going along on the 3rd to check it out!

I Wore This! Mellow Monday 18/03/13

I’m on a 90’s hype at the moment! Just look at this pink wash denim, so bad it’s good

Image

These leggings are my new favourite thing, they are from Lazy Oaf and are £45, the plain black skater dress is from H&M and the shirt and scarf are vintage from Pop Boutique. My necklace is by the wonderful Tatty Devine and my boots are steel toe capped Doc Martens.

I found some look-a-likes for you guys (click pictures to go buy)..

Here’s a nice pink denim shirt for sale on Etsy!

Image

The best boots in the world thanks to Dr Martens (it’s all about the steel toe cap!)..

Image

And finally, a cute check headscarf from Lulu in the Sky on Etsy to complete the look..

If I Owned It: Dream Summer Wardrobe!

Hey guys!

Tonight I used the power of Polyvore to bring you my dream summer 2013 look.

I am an unashamed fan of 90’s fashion, but I tend to veer towards a more bratty 90’s punk look than Buffy influenced goth vibes. In my world I could totally get away with retro slogan tee shirts and dungarees everyday. I’d go for bunches too but at 26, I feel that’s gonna look a little weird, so a high ponytail it is!

Here you go guys…

Image

I already own a pair of dungarees, and I have my sights set on the Lazy Oaf ‘slime’ tee for my birthday next month! I regularly stomp around in my DM’s so i’ve got that base covered.. all I need is to stock up on spacey patches and eat lollies all day!

My brat look will rock your summer!

Style Swoon! Spotted Shopping – Jo and Ayse

So a few days ago I was lucky enough to spot TWO lovely ladies whose styles I absolutely ADORED, they came into the shop I manage, one straight after the other!

The cool kids know where to shop…

Here’s Jo!

Image

Jo was actually putting some gig posters up in the fitting rooms downstairs. I totally fell in love with her hat, which is from Mishka (probably something to do with my obsession for eyeballs!), her 80’s tee and camo jacket is the perfect grungy look (I wish I could pull it off!) and the addition of cute frilly socks is the icing on the cake!

Meet Ayse!

Image

Ayse was just browsing, but I interrupted her to ask if she minded me taking her picture. I especially admired her amazing hair! The cute collar and crew combo is a firm favourite of mine, and the big bow really ties everything together. Keeping the pants neutral means the focus is on her key pieces, the jumper and studded collar.. and of course, her amazing hair!

If you know of anyone whose style I would swoon over, please let me know in the comments!

Etsy Cute 10/02/13 – Be Mine

We don’t celebrate Valentines in our household (boo! hiss! something about Boyfriend not needing an excuse to lavish me with attention!), but I know a lot of people love this Hallmark holiday (myself secretly included). Here I have picked out some cute valentines alternatives… because any kawaii lover would be disappointed by a bunch of flowers and some chocolate.

Valentine Monster!

Image

Grumble Cave Monsters create and sell super cute furry pals for you to squish and cuddle!  They are UK based, so the shipping won’t be ridiculous, and at £25 this piece of adorableness is very reasonably priced! This particular little fella is one of only six of this valentines design! I love his huuuge eyes and soft plushie heart!

There is even a little description about the monsters and where they live! It’s too cute for words. The listing states only one left though so hurry!

Rocket Card!

Image

It’s not a secret that I love cute things, nor is it a secret that I love space and science. This card is basically PERFECT! I love the retro feel to the graphics and the little heart touches everywhere! It’s pretty pricey shipping on this item but if it’s for the one you love, it’s worth it!

It is designed and made by Emily Kuznar of Captain’s Print Co. She’s a graphic designer based in Minnesota some times and Wisconsin the rest of the time.

Check out her other designs as there are loads that will appeal to pop culture fans!

Heart Crayons!

Image

Now, these are advertised as a child’s valentine present but HELLO.. what about the big kid in all of us! Just imagine what a cute date you could have building a den and colouring in together!

We don’t get ‘Conversation Hearts’ sweets in the UK, but we do get ‘Love Hearts’ and they are very similar! (also in my top 10 favourite sweets… hmm, possible future blog post!?)

I love how seller Merrill of Ivy Lane Designs re-cycles old crayons to make them into something adorable and far more appealing. I’m a great fan of using everything up so as not to pollute this lovely planet so A+ for Merrill! She also makes notebooks re-cycled from packaging, record covers and paint charts, and little matchbox party favours!

They come in sets of five, and I gather you can pick your colours, but I may be wrong. If you buy two sets you could have all 10 colours anyway! And they are a steal at only £10.50 (that’s with me including the international shipping!)

Cat Lady Shirt!

Image

If you are destined to be a lonely cat lady this valentines (or even if you are not, and just love cats), why not embrace it and don this cute tee by Courtney Wyman of Wider Awake?!

I love the simplicity of the typography and the sweet little whiskers and heart nose! Perfect for injecting a hint of subtle valentines into an outfit! It’s only £19.50 (again I included shipping for you guys), so there’s no real reason not to go for this beauty!

Her other items are super simple but equally adorable, there’s more tees, cards and prints!

Also, this would look cute with some skinny jeans and some kitty shoes from Em & Sprout!!

Vintage Hankies!

Image

Nobody seems to use handkerchiefs anymore, and that’s a real shame since there are so many adorable ones kicking around on Etsy right now! They are so useful.. as decoration tied around a bag handle, in your hair, poking out of a pocket, as a little table decoration under a bowl or plant and for blowing your nose with!

This set of two vintage valentines hankies is being sold by Pixie Dust Linens who have loads of amazing vintage textile items and clothing patterns in their Etsy shop!

If you love the idea of giving a little hankie to a loved one do check out all of Etsy as there are literally HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS to choose from!

That’s all for now folks! Kate xx

Video: Harajuku Adventure!

I first went to Tokyo in 2010 with my boyfriend, his friend and his friends girlfriend.

We shot a lot of video on that particular trip of the places we went and all the crazy things we saw. Today I am sharing the Harajuku video with you as you may recognise some of the shops we visit from my earlier Harajuku shopping guide posts! If you are interested in using my guides to actually shop in Harajuku, watching this video may help you determine where places are by looking at the streets and landmarks!

I make a few appearances here.. with blonde hair and big goofy teeth! Enjoy!

Style Swoon! Spotted Shopping – Harrison and Courtney

20130129-142757.jpg

This is the first time I’ve ever stopped a stranger (strangers!!) and asked to take their photo for this blog!

Harrison and Courtney came into the shop I manage (Pop Boutique, Leeds) for a spot of shopping and I instantly picked up on their unique style!

Courtney looked fab in a grungy denim dress and smart coat, she also accessorised with a bright turquoise scarf/stole, stacked shoes and a bagpuss backpack! I love her hair which is shaved at one side and long and flowing at the other!

Harrison really appealed to my love of super bright colours and I adore the way he teamed his bright yellow basketball vest with a track top and loads of statement jewellery! My favourite of which was his ‘acid’ necklace which he bought online!

Thanks for posing for igetdressedinthemorning guys!

I Wore This! Girly Saturday 26/01/13

ImageBeing a junk food poseypants!

This weekend my wonderful best friend (photographer Sam of Wicked Heart Photography) came to visit me for a few days! We usually go shopping, but this time we fancied staying in, where it’s warm!

On the Saturday we had another of our friends come visit, the beautiful Emma with her sister Rachel who had come to do our nails! I had tips put on and later decorated my new claws with my own nail art creations. Sam had cute lilac gels put on with adorable iridescent shell flakes!

I wore a new outfit for this girly occasion, my junk food tights, a vintage sheer blouse and my brand spanking new burger sweater! I made myself hungry all day in this get up!

My tights are from Mancphoebe on ASOS Marketplace, My blouse is from Pop Boutique and my amazing new sweater is from Mr GuGu & Miss Go, based in Poland but selling Internationally through Big Cartel (I just made the mistake of looking now and they have photo print leggings!!!!)

If you would like tutorials for any of the nail designs I have done please hit me up with a request through my email katykamikaze@gmail.com or in the comments below!

I Wore This! London Adventure 21/01/13

Image

Posing in my room at the wonderful Hoxton Hotel!

Me and boyfriend like to take a trip down to London roughly once a month, it’s a great way for us to spend time together as he works super hard!

I like to take the opportunity to dress up a little and this time I wore this amazing vintage dress from Pop Boutique. Underneath it I had about a million layers of thermal t-shirts, tights and leggings! My boots are also vintage but sadly died a death in the snow! (If anyone know where I can get some exactly like it please let me know!!)

My necklace is by Tatty Devine and was bought on another London trip from their Covent Garden shop!

I wore my new green Illamasqua eyeshadows and some bright red Illamasqua lippy! (I LOVE Illamasqua)
